"Mr T" stands 15 hh, approx 950lbs and turned

"T" would make a great all around horse. He has speed, very athletic and
a great mind. I am putting all my young horses up for sale and the one that
doesn't sell will be my next project, just can't keep them all. Get him now
before his price goes up with more training. Lots of great foundation names

BEWARE of SCAM EMAILS: I have had a few sellers express concern
lately over SCAM email inquiries in response to their classified ads. PLEASE
BEWARE of scammers. Sooner or later ALL internet classified sites get discovered
& become prey to these people that have nothing better to do with
their time. Scammers send bogus email to you, to solicit a phony sale usually
involving (counterfeit) money orders or certified bank checks. You can recognize
scam email because the sender has little or no knowledge of the item (in
our case a horse) which is the biggest giveaway, as they send emails in bulk
and have little knowledge of the ad they are supposedly responding to. If
the scammer asks questions in the email that are already answered in the
ad, that is another clue. The next clues are: Scammers are usually not from
North America (you can check their I.P. address - peek under the hood of
the email) - or - you can tell that English is not their native language.
Or they may appeal to your greed and offer you a larger sum than you ask.
I recognize their emails so easily, (I have seen so many of them) I sometimes
forget that folks new to the internet are vulnerable simple because they
are not savvy yet. And - scammers improve their technique over time, too.
So if you run across an email inquiry that is suspect, ask them an obvious
question to test them - if you are still unsure, forward it
to me, and I will help you figure
out if it is genuine or bogus. Here is a typical example of a scam email
sent to one of our HancockHorses.com sellers, starting w/ the ad they responded
to:

Subject: YOUR Great Grand-daughter of Buck Hancock. I
guess they must have some software or folks they hire to copy the title of
your ad, or of the wording you wrote in the ad, it will be exactly like you
worded it.
Hello,
I Am Lewis , i saw your advert (this guy didn't learn
English in America - he learned Brit-style English) on the internet
for sale. Please kindly get back to me with all this details below if still
avaliable this one isn't too bad, but some have terrible
spelling and punctuation for sale such as :-
1.The Present Condition ? (especially funny in
horse ads... "well, a little rust on the body, but has lots of miles left
tho!" - complete non-horsey person or language, trying to buy your
horse)
2.Your Asking Price For It ? (sometimes already
in the ad)
3.The Recent Pics ?. (sometimes already in the
ad) If I have doubts, I will ask them if they meant the mare or filly...
or something about the color - something a genuine horse buyer would know,
and the scammer won't know.
I will be looking forward to have all this details from you as soon as
possible,so that we can proceed further. they love
to be in a hurry, it is usually "time sensitive" offer, to encourage you
to go after the $ rather than think or question them
Regards,
Lewis

There are scambaiters who play with these scammers
ad nauseum, just to see how long they can lure them on, and to what lengths
they will go. Here is
one example.
And if you are interested in proaction, there is actually
an organized movement dedicated solely to waging war on scammers by baiting
them, and using their time & money (phonecalls & phony WU & MO
certificates etc) hopefully all the while preventing some amount of preying
on real victims, at 419eater.com. |
